- learn all of the major landforms (cities, rivers, mountains, regions) that exist in South Carolina
- identify the three Native American tribes (Catawba, Cherokee, and Yemassee) that occupied South Carolina before European Settlers arrived and learn their lifestyles
- learn about the three European powers that attempted to settle South Carolina, including where they attempted to settle and the fate of their settlement

- design a Native American dwelling to illustrate the composition of Native American dwellings that were significant to South Carolina
- identify the three European powers that attempted to settle South Carolina, including where they attempted to settle and the fate of their settlements
- justify how the Native American influence and European influence shaped the development of South Carolina culture
